Liz Madden, has been involved in music and theatre for most of her life. As a vocalist, Liz moves easily between Folk, Jazz, Classical and Celtic music with great sensitivity and brings light and dark to every aspect of both her singing and songwriting. Her voice leaves a lasting impression with it's deep emotion and energy.
From a musical family rich in Irish traditional music, Liz songwriting skills combine this heritage with a modern feel to create both her music and lyrics. A classically trained vocalist with a traditional background, Liz has been a recording artist for the past ten years culminating in three solo albums along with three original albums under the name, Rua. Globally, Liz's voice and original compositions have featured on over sixty compilation albums along with featuring in TV & Film.
Performances worldwide include headlining at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Catskills Irish Weekends in New York, the Lisdoonvarna Festival, the World Music Festival Tel-Aviv, and the 7th International Folk & Art Festival in China. Most recently Liz was invited to perform at an International Conference for Nobel Peace Laureates and was a guest performer at the AFRI conference at this years Feile Bride. Other performances include a night of Irish Roots music in Ireland with Irish fiddler Niamh Fahy (Riverdance).
Liz's theatre work includes performing as a lead with the Drawing Room Opera Company along with various roles in musical theatre, most recently a lead in the new production of Stephen Sonheim's 'Side by Side' being performed in Ireland. In 2003 Liz journeyed to America where she had the honour of becoming a Native American Pipe Carrier. Liz holds a Licentiate Diploma in Musical Theatre and a Diploma in Music from the London College of Music, a Diploma in Acting from the Irish Board of Speech & Drama along with ITEC Diplomas in Music Therapy and Alexander Technique.
